PPF’s First Fundraiser
The PPF held its first fundraiser on an unseasonally warm evening at the Youth Hostel Association’s hall in The Rocks, Sydney. Thanks YHA for gratis access to your hall and its excellent facilities.
Balmy evening, great roll up of supporters – well over 100 wonderful people plus our wonderful alumni and volunteer workers. Classical music to get us in the mood (thanks Suraj and Nazli from Rosemont Strings for donating your time and glorious playing), alumni presentations, raffle fun and nail biting auction along with nail biting action from our auctioneer. Interspersed with plenty of joyful conviviality captured photographically and voluntarily by Ben Guthrie. We indeed had a party with a purpose.
PPF alumni and volunteers were welcomed by the offering of a Khada, a Tibetan buddhist scarf representing goodwill, auspiciousness and respect. Khadas are used in Nepal and other Himalayan countries to honour guests as well as being part of ceremonies and worship.
We could, and will be, sentimental, it’s hard not to believe PP was smiling on us.
Thanks to generosity from all, the PPF raised $25,000. This will greatly help us to keep working on the Nepal sanitation projects – sanitation and plumbing skills support at Dhulikhel Hospital, and portable hand washing unit for remote communities – and continuation of the Paul Pholeros Architecture Scholarship.
Namaste and thank you all once again!!
Below are some images from the evening and more conviviality pics are here.
Many thanks to The Guthrie Project for the great moments captured.
