Bishnu our PPF Nepal program coordinator has been working with Triratna, carpenter extraordinaire, and metal fabricators to get the portable handwashing unit prototype close to completion.

It’s been a long slow process, taking into account Nepal’s lengthy COVID lockdowns which were closely followed by festivals and major national public holidays.

Bishnu had to hunt hard to source parts that are not readily available in the usual market places, such as a foot pump. He always manages to find the right people to do sometimes unfamiliar work, in this case the detailed metal fabrication.

Next stage, the plumbing works and final detailing, after which the unit will be trialled in the field.

A video showing more detail of the unit is available on the PPF Instagram account.
